Valentine’s Day in the Gardens
When: Tuesday 14 February
Time: Garden opening hours extended until 8pm
Where: Adelaide Botanic Garden
Cost: free (picnic baskets, bar and Moonlight Cinema tickets incur a cost)
Want to do something different this Valentine's Day?
Express your love for that someone special, by putting it on display at Adelaide Botanic Garden's dazzling International Rose Garden!
You're invited to write love notes, which will be displayed among the Garden’s thousands of roses, for the world to see.
Attendees can also dedicate their favourite rose to their Valentine, by placing a personalised label next to the rose of their choice.
This event runs from 1pm – 8pm, it’s free and all materials are provided. The International Rose Garden is on the corner of Hackney Road and Plane Tree Drive.
Love Notes is proudly supported by Splash Adelaide.
There will also be music, a pop-up Garden Bar, an Instagram photo printer so you can take home special memories, and a plant sale for that extra little gift.
The special pop up Garden Bar will be open on the Schomburgk Pavilion from 1-8pm, and those who participate in Love Notes can enjoy a 2-for-1 drink.
Of course you can bring your own, but for something extra special visitors can pre-book a gourmet picnic basket from the award-winning Botanic Gardens Restaurant. They can be booked for the Mount Lofty or Adelaide Garden, and include a range of antipasto, cheese, condiments and sweet treats. Head to the Botanic Gardens Restaurant website and find the form under the "Events" tab to place your order.
When the sun goes down
Top the night off with a ticket to the special Moonlight Cinema Valentine’s Day screening of La La Land, starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling.
The Botanic Gardens Restaurant is also open for a special Valentine’s Dinner.
Make a day or an evening of it, with a special Valentine’s Day in the Garden - or simply stroll through on your way to another date.
Mount Lofty Botanic Garden
Mount Lofty Botanic Garden is also extending its opening hours until 8pm.
Normally closing at 4pm on weekdays, this is a great opportunity for visitors to enjoy a unique perspective of the beautiful hillside Garden.
The Garden is awash with romantic spots and encouraged to spend the evening in the Garden, seeking out a secluded picnic locale.
Of course you can bring your own, but for something extra special visitors can pre-book a gourmet picnic basket from the award-winning Botanic Gardens Restaurant (head to the Restaurant's website and find the form under the "Events" tab to place your order).
Baskets can be collected from the Mount Lofty Garden when you arrive (or can be arranged to collect from Adelaide Garden, if that’s easier) and include a range of antipasto, cheese, condiments and sweet treats.
Both the upper and lower entrances of the Garden will be open for entry.
