Glover Fence Embroidery Art
Children and families visiting the Glover Playground on South Terrace in Adelaide, will be greeted by 7 large, bright and colourful embroidered patches decorating the fence from 5 January to 2 March, 2018. These patches depict objects of summer such as an ice-cream, a pair of thongs and a tennis ball. Evy’s intention is for these artworks to engage with children’s sense of wonder and curiosity, to inspire them to consider art making in new, exciting ways. Public art is usually associated with sculpture or painted wall murals rather than textiles. Evy is interested in pushing the boundaries of traditional textile handcrafts such as embroidery, weaving and crochet whilst creating a public artwork which is bold, quirky and fun.
